Associated Power Analysts, Inc. offers two software packages for lease. These are the NARP and GRIP models for the reliability prediction, assessment and capacity planning of power pools and other bulk power systems. Custom modifications are offered for both models to adapt them to unique modeling requirements.
The NARP model software is a Monte Carlo simulation model especially suited to modeling large multi-area bulk power systems with explicit modeling of generation forced and scheduled outages and the transmission network interconnecting the areas of the system. The transmission network is modeled using a dc load flow approach. Model output allows assessment of both area and pool reliability and the contributions to capacity shortfall events associated with generation capacity shortages and with transmission network bottlenecks.
The GRIP model software uses analytical probabilistic models for generating units and a simplified transmission network model. This model is particularly useful when the transmission network does not need to be modeled in detail and when generation expansion planning over a number of years is desired.
This software is intended in use for expert witness purposes.
